Mahabaleshwar

Located in Satara district, Mahabaleshwar is set amid lofty peaks, breathtaking valleys and dense flora of the Western Ghats.   1. Morarji Castle

    An old building with British architectural influence, the Morarji Castle was once the resting place of Mahatma Gandhi. He came here during his visit to Mahabaleshwar in the year 1945, as a part of the freedom struggle.

  2. Mount Malcom

    Built in the mid-nineteenth century, Mount Malcom is a stunning colonial mansion named after John Malcom - a British Army general. It is an impressive edifice, which epitomises architectural splendour and elegant craftsmanship of the bygone era.

  3. Venna Lake

    Spread across 28 acres of area, the Venna Lake is surrounded by tall trees and flowers. It was built in the mid-nineteenth century by Shri Appasaheb Maharaj, a king of Satara.

  4. Arthur’s Point

    Located at an elevation of 1470 m, the Arthur's Point is colloquially known as the 'Queen of all points'. It is famed as the only site that offers a view of the geographical differentiation of Deccan and Konkan.

  6. Pratapgad Fort

    Constructed in 1656, Pratapgad Fort is an impressive maze of ponds, chambers and long walkways. It was the site where Afzal Khan, the mighty general of Bijapur, breathed his last after being defeated by Shivaji in the battle of Pratapgad.

  7. Lingmala Waterfall

    Positioned at an elevation of 600 ft., the Lingmala Waterfall is a gorgeous fall cascading down the Venna Valley. This waterfall is at its glorious best during the rainy season.

    Perched at an altitude of 1290 m above the sea level, Kate's Point offers a breathtaking view of the Dhom Reservoir. It is located in proximity to the Echo Point, which is another popular vantage point in the area.

  9. Mahabaleshwar Temple

    Mahabaleshwar Temple, encircled with a high stone wall, is divided into the inner sanctum and the outer central hall. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple enshrines a black granite Lingam, which is considered divine.
